Yellowstone Ride

Hello All, my three followers - thanks for following my blog.  Sorry I've had some issues with how to link pictures from another site - it takes time to learn this stuff.  Enjoy the pics. I'll add more like this, that is if you find it user friendly so let me know by posting a comment.  :-)
Click on the link below to see our ride. This link is to Walmart Photo Center, you may need to create an account to get in, if you don't already have one.  Not sure it's all new to me.

My Birthday!

Tom wisked me away early this morning for a ride up to the cool Hualapai Mtns for coffee and some bird watching for my Birthday.
I didn't get a good picture of the birds, but we counted at least 10 different birds eating in the feeders hanging from the pine trees that included a woodpecker, hummingbirds, and plenty of finches.
It was a Beautiful morning!

July 5, 2010   We decided to get out of the heat. We planned on leaving the hot desert at 10am, but things didn't work out  as planned.  Our trip planned was to join up with Ernie and Teresa, Tom's brother and sister in law and ride up to Utah to see Zion Park.
That morning, 10am, Ernie called to say he had a dead battery.  We were loaded up and ready to go, we jumped on the Harley (battery charger in my lap) and on our way over to jump start his battery.  10 minute charge didn't work....and no one in town had a battery.  We continued to let the battery charge for another 30 minutes and low behold, it finally took the charge and started up...it's now noon and it's blistering HOT!
We decided to stop off at the Henderson, NV Harley shop and pick up a battery...just in case! Packed it up in the bags, and went for some lunch.

It's after lunch and it's 2pm and it's still blistering HOT! We've got at least two more hours before it starts cooling down.  Don't they look hot and bored?

We finally make it into St George, Utah where we can start to feel it cooling down.  Not much farther and we'll be at Zion Park. But before we can enter the park, Tom decides he wants to put his feet in the Creek at Springdale, Utah.
We all had a good break hiking down to the creek and relaxing for a bit. I also learned how to set my camera so that it takes auto pics within 30 seconds...just be sure not to trip on anything while trying to get back into the picture...no I did't trip!

We finally made it to the park entrance...can you believe $24 bucks for a bike with two people. Ugh! But way worth it once we got in there.

Into the park we went what sights there are to see....and we better do it quick the sun is starting to set.
As we entered into the park...we quickly found out they were doing road work. That's some hard riding I don't care what kind of shocks you have!  Fortunate for us, it was only a few miles then cleared up.
The scenery was so worth the jolting going down the road, thank goodness for the scene setting 'movement' on my camera.

The picutres don't do the park justice.
We made our way out of the park and decided we needed to push onto our next destination...dinner and hotel...neither of which we had any clue of where we were going to eat or sleep that night, but we did know it was going to be in Pasquicth...or is it Panstitch...or Passticth...oh heck we couldn't remember the name of the town.  We pulled out the map and it's Panquitch, Ut. Just a little ole town... we were told by a friend of ours to stay there.  It was getting late, I looked on the iPhone for hotel/motels in Pan..Pas or whatever that town is called and found the Panquitch Inn....that's a good as any and it was only $45 bucks for the night.  We reserved two rooms and headed on out.  We were heading into night, lots of deer and elk along the side of the road, one crossed quite a bit further in front of us. The guys drove cautiously.
We finally made it into Pas, uh Panquitch, and found our motel. OMG they'll never let me book us another room again! Check this place out...not to mention it's 9:30pm and the town closes up...we ran across the street to get food to go to come back and eat in the what??? dining room at the motel.

The food was awful but we were so hungry we would have eaten card board, wait we did eat card board.

So, at least we're laughing about it!  We're ready for bed! Oh did I mention the fella in the background and the one taking this picture were from France.  Anyways, he had a problem with their room...uh, Tom did you look at our room yet?  Thank goodness both our rooms were fine...just look at the wonderful bathrooms we had...did I mention the sign outside the hotel said it was Historic?

The next morning I wandered out to see where we actually drove into the night before...it was all such a blur since we were all so hungry and tired.  We even had secured parking LOL at the Historic Panquitch Inn

That was our adventure in the town of "Panties-in-a-Stitch" as we now call it  --or Panquitch
We load up and we're off to find FOOD, we want good food this morning, we're starving! We came across this little place and not only did they have really, really good food the  service was great too!

After breakfast is was off on some touring of the area...here's a few more pictures...enjoy!
